I am You is a wonderful storyI enjoyed reading I am You , it was great reading about Ubuntu。 It shows despite the cultural differences we are all the same in different ways at the end of the day。
Kathy,
Beautiful book。 Beautiful message。 A message for the world。
Aaron Eichler,
very moving Not bad。 It is an interesting way to look at yourself in the context of others, to basically treat others as yourself。
Kay B。,
Deep and meaningful bookThis is a very deep and meaningful book about being one with all。 It’s important to read the publisher’s note to understand the meaning of the book。 Simple and sweetly written。 Beautiful, colorful illustrations。
Maria Thomas,
A good message but I think it could be confusing for children who might take things too literally instead of metaphorically。 But perhaps over time children will grasp the message。 Nice illustrations。
Gabriella,
Beautiful!A sweet, short but well put together book that really highlights the need to work together, be together and share! I love the illustrations with little hidden messages。 Umbutu is something that really should be taught in all cultures as it would benefit us all。 A must read for all those teaching togetherness!
Juliana,
Visually beautiful book perfect for all ages。 It teaches the concept of Ubuntu and how we are all connected with each other。 It's a good lesson to learn as it helps you to understand that how you act towards others is how you act towards yourself。 If you're mean to others, you're mean to yourself。 To love another is to love yourself。 It's a simple but beautiful concept。 The illustrations are gorgeous as well。 Perfect first read of the year。 Visually beautiful book perfect for all ages。 It teaches the concept of Ubuntu and how we are all connected with each other。 It's a good lesson to learn as it helps you to understand that how you act towards others is how you act towards yourself。 If you're mean to others, you're mean to yourself。 To love another is to love yourself。 It's a simple but beautiful concept。 The illustrations are gorgeous as well。 Perfect first read of the year。 。。。more

Jo Douglas,
A little bit of the now and all of the future, this is the world to come! It’s amazing how many authors and other creatives are encouraging us to seek both ancient wisdom and our future inheritance, the world we ARE creating and will create。 This book is one of those creative reminders for the children of our world to take heart and create with their hearts。 Not just a good read but a necessary one。
Andrea Pole,
I Am You: A Book about Ubuntu by Refiloe Moahloli is a beautiful picture book that introduces, and celebrates, the concept of ubuntu, the belief that we are all connected。 I must admit that I was unfamiliar with this term, but quickly came to embrace it as I allowed the stunning illustrations to take me on a journey of discovery。 This gentle yet powerful message will be easily digested by even the youngest of children, and will certainly serve to open a dialogue about kindness and acceptance。 Re I Am You: A Book about Ubuntu by Refiloe Moahloli is a beautiful picture book that introduces, and celebrates, the concept of ubuntu, the belief that we are all connected。 I must admit that I was unfamiliar with this term, but quickly came to embrace it as I allowed the stunning illustrations to take me on a journey of discovery。 This gentle yet powerful message will be easily digested by even the youngest of children, and will certainly serve to open a dialogue about kindness and acceptance。 Recommended。 。。。more

Great kids book Great kids book to start teaching children kindness to friends。 My two year old loved the detailed pictures and bright colors as well as the story。

What a wonderful message! The illustrations are excellent, too!
Medeia Sharif,
This book brings to readers a beautiful message about how everyone is connected。 Love, self-love, a sense of community…these concepts and others are found in this picture book。 The colorful illustrations are a delight。
Cindy Woods,
Lovely sentiment and ideasLoved the descriptions of all people regardless of color, disability, living situation, ethnicity, traditions, and all are one。 Beautiful artwork and lots of color。 Showing the good and bad in people is an important aspect of life。 A good children’s book。 Only criticism is the font was too small and one page would not allow me to right it…continued to open sideways regardless of my efforts to look at it and/or read the page。 Overall though, a good, solid children’s book Lovely sentiment and ideasLoved the descriptions of all people regardless of color, disability, living situation, ethnicity, traditions, and all are one。 Beautiful artwork and lots of color。 Showing the good and bad in people is an important aspect of life。 A good children’s book。 Only criticism is the font was too small and one page would not allow me to right it…continued to open sideways regardless of my efforts to look at it and/or read the page。 Overall though, a good, solid children’s book that teaches differences yet we are all one。 。。。more

I'm a bit (actually quite a lot) old to have a young child, but if I did I'd definitely get them this book about interconnectedness。 It may be small in size but it is huge in its message。 Beautifully written and illustrated, I loved it。 I'm a bit (actually quite a lot) old to have a young child, but if I did I'd definitely get them this book about interconnectedness。 It may be small in size but it is huge in its message。 Beautifully written and illustrated, I loved it。 。。。more

I've never come across the concept of Ubuntu。 It's beautiful, and this book is beautiful, too。 I'm so happy to have read it for the first time with my young child and husband, who had also never heard of Ubuntu。 The illustrations are gorgeous。 I could see the message filtering through to my child。 I loved it。 I've never come across the concept of Ubuntu。 It's beautiful, and this book is beautiful, too。 I'm so happy to have read it for the first time with my young child and husband, who had also never heard of Ubuntu。 The illustrations are gorgeous。 I could see the message filtering through to my child。 I loved it。 。。。more

Laura Roberts,
This is a very lovely picture book, great for both young children and even adults who need a gentle reminder that WE ARE ALL CONNECTED。 A perfect read for the first day of a new year, or any day when you need to stop and remember that anything you do to others is something you're doing to yourself。 We may not use the word "ubuntu" much here in North America (unless you are into Linux), but this book perfectly illustrates the meaning of the word in colorful images and text that is simple to read This is a very lovely picture book, great for both young children and even adults who need a gentle reminder that WE ARE ALL CONNECTED。 A perfect read for the first day of a new year, or any day when you need to stop and remember that anything you do to others is something you're doing to yourself。 We may not use the word "ubuntu" much here in North America (unless you are into Linux), but this book perfectly illustrates the meaning of the word in colorful images and text that is simple to read and easy to understand。 Add it to your collection, get it for free from Amazon First Reads (which is how I got my copy), or ask your local library to order a copy to spread the word。 。。。more

"It was super good。 Like the best。 Now I know not to annoy my brother because to be kind to my brother is being kind to myself!" P, age 5。 This is a great book for a family read and talking about ethics and the concept of Ubuntu with kids。 We are starting Build Your Library homeschool curriculum today, and this was a great book to add into BYO's existing Year 0 and Year 7 curricula, both of which are about exploring the world, its people, and its cultures。 I'm so glad this was on First Reads!
